Poland (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) represented the key exporters of triticale in 2021, recording approx. 74% and 1.1% of total exports, respectively. Germany (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (4.5%). The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - together made up 2.5% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, triticale exports from expanded with a Poland of +29.5%, while Lithuania (-22.0%) experienced a sharp descent unchanged over the same period. Germany and the Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. France (-2.8%) and Hungary (-8.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+57 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while the Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Germany and Lithuania saw its share reduced by -2.5%, -2.7%, -9.1%, -13.7% and -23.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest triticale supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 72% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of global exports. It was followed by France, with a 4.7% share.

In Poland, triticale exports expanded at an average annual rate of +27.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-1.7% per year) and France (-3.9% per year).

The Netherlands (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 17% share, followed by Sweden (less than 0.1%). Portugal (X tons), Italy (X tons) and France (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +69.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Spain ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 80% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Portugal, France and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 12%.

Among the main importing countries, Portugal, with a CAGR of +49.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
