In 2021, Canada (X tons), the United States (X tons), Norway (X tons) and Russia (X tons) was the key exporter of unbleached sulphite pulp in the world, committing 88% of total export. The following importers - Israel (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) - together made up 3.8% of total imports.

Imports into Sweden increased at an average annual rate of +20.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+56.5%), Pakistan (+40.0%), Slovakia (+25.6%) and Israel (+9.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +56.5% from 2012-2021. China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-2.4%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-17.7%), Thailand (-18.5%) and the Philippines (-20.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Sweden, Cote d'Ivoire, Pakistan and Slovakia increased by +31, +12, +6.6 and +6.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest unbleached sulphite pulp importing markets into Puerto Rico were China ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 60% share of total imports. Israel, Sweden, Pakistan, Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +67.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
