New Zealand dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 51% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Australia (X tons), together generating a 20% share of total exports. The following exporters - Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), China (X tons), Uruguay (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), Russia (X tons), Algeria (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) - together made up 16% of total exports.

Exports from New Zealand increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Algeria (+74.1%), Syrian Arab Republic (+11.1%), Russia (+8.5%), Turkey (+6.6%), the UK (+6.5%), Belgium (+2.4%) and Kazakhstan (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +74.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Uruguay (-3.9%), Australia (-6.1%), Turkmenistan (-7.3%) and China (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of New Zealand, Turkey, the UK and Syrian Arab Republic increased by +9.6, +2.6, +2.3 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, New Zealand ($X) remains the largest wool supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 45% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 20% share of global exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in New Zealand stood at -2.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Australia (-7.3% per year) and the UK (+1.4% per year).

The following importers - Germany (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Russia (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - together made up 15% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +17.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest wool importing markets into Puerto Rico were China ($X), India ($X) and South Korea ($X), together comprising 37% of total imports. Italy, Malaysia, the UK, Lithuania, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Belgium and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
