By contrast, Vietnam (-2.9%), Nicaragua (-5.9%), Costa Rica (-13.2%) and the Dominican Republic (-19.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Ecuador (+37 p.p.), Mexico (+7.3 p.p.), China (+3.4 p.p.) and the United States (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of Vietnam (-3.8 p.p.), Nicaragua (-11.8 p.p.), the Dominican Republic (-13.2 p.p.) and Costa Rica (-23.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Ecuador ($X) emerged as the largest yautia (cocoyam) supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 50% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nicaragua ($X), with an 11% share of global exports. It was followed by Costa Rica, with a 9.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Ecuador amounted to +31.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Nicaragua (-2.2% per year) and Costa Rica (-11.4% per year).
