In value terms, the largest markets for soft drink exported from Qatar were Saudi Arabia ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Pakistan ($X), with a combined 79% share of total exports. Brazil, the United States, Bahrain and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
Among the main countries of destination, Bahrain, with a CAGR of 0.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of soft drinks increased by 16% to X litres, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, soft drink imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Jordan (X litres) constituted the largest soft drink supplier to Qatar, with a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, soft drink imports from Jordan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Oman (X litres), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Kuwait (X litres), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Jordan amounted to +112.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Oman (+39.4% per year) and Kuwait (+15.8% per year).
In value terms, the largest soft drink suppliers to Qatar were Switzerland ($X), Jordan ($X) and Oman ($X), with a combined 50% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Jordan, with a CAGR of +97.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average soft drink import price stood at $X per litre in 2021, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 9.3%. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per litre), while the price for Jordan ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
