In value terms, onion and shallot imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 67%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Pakistan (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Iran (X tons) were the main suppliers of onion and shallot imports to Qatar, together accounting for 82% of total imports. Spain, China, Jordan, Lebanon and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Jordan (with a CAGR of +62.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
