The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

Oman (X tons), the United States (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) were the main suppliers of sauce and seasoning imports to Qatar, together accounting for 61% of total imports. These countries were followed by Kuwait, the Netherlands, India, Turkey, Malaysia, Italy, South Africa and the UK, which together accounted for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +44.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Oman ($X), the United States ($X) and the Philippines ($X) appeared to be the largest sauce and seasoning suppliers to Qatar, with a combined 55% share of total imports. The average sauce and seasoning import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -1.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 10%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+27.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
