In 2022, the Qatari cosmetics market was finally on the rise to reach $X after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Cosmetics consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas purchases of cosmetics were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cosmetics imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of cosmetics imports to Qatar, together accounting for X% of total imports. Germany, Spain, South Africa, Ireland, the United States, Italy, France, Thailand, Indonesia and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Ireland (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
