The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 5,797% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Hong Kong SAR (X tons) was the main destination for blueberry and cranberry exports from South Korea, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, blueberry and cranberry exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kuwait (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Vietnam (X kg), with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Hong Kong SAR totaled +98.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+50.8% per year) and Vietnam (+15.7% per year).

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for blueberries and cranberries exports from South Korea, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 3.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +131.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+42.7% per year) and Vietnam (-0.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average blueberry and cranberry export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 15% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, blueberry and cranberry export price increased by +42.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 118%. Imports into Republic of Korea

After ten years of growth, overseas purchases of blueberries and cranberries decreased by -2% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 284%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 227% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
