Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+164.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Republic of Korea
In 2022, the amount of molasses imported into South Korea fell slightly to X tons, with a decrease of -1.6% on the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 5.7% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, molasse imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Indonesia (X tons), Australia (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of molasse imports to South Korea, together comprising 83% of total imports. Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +421.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest molasse suppliers to South Korea were Indonesia ($X), Australia ($X) and India ($X), together accounting for 83% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, India, with a CAGR of +440.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average molasse import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, molasse import price increased by +73.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 26% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Australia ($X per ton) and Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
