Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, textile rubber hose exports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main destinations of textile rubber hose exports from South Korea, with a combined 64% share of total exports. Mexico, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, India, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +63.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for textile rubber hose exported from South Korea were China ($X), the United States ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 66% share of total exports. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 6.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, South Korea recorded decline in overseas purchases of rubber hose reinforced with textiles, which decreased by -2.8% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, textile rubber hose imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 11%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Malaysia (X tons), China (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of textile rubber hose imports to South Korea, together comprising 71% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +43.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, China ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest textile rubber hose suppliers to South Korea, together comprising 47% of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Germany, Mexico and India, which together accounted for a further 24%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +34.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average textile rubber hose import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 7.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
