In 2021, overseas purchases of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids decreased by -10.9% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, anti-freezing preparations imports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 37%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Hungary (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of anti-freezing preparations to Romania, with a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, anti-freezing preparations imports from Hungary exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold.
