For the third year in a row, Romania recorded growth in supplies from abroad of artificial guts (sausage skins), which increased by 10% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 82%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, artificial guts imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 19%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of artificial guts to Romania, with a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, artificial guts imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), more than tenfold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.6% share.
