Bulgaria (X units) was the main destination for ball exports from Romania, accounting for a 71% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was held by Moldova (X units), with a 5.1% share.

In 2022, the average ball export price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -7.8% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ball export price decreased by -34.9% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 92%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to France ($X per unit) and Turkey ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Greece ($X per unit) and Bulgaria ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Romania
After five years of growth, purchases abroad of balls decreased by -22.9% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded noticeable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 38%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, ball imports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, France (X units) constituted the largest ball supplier to Romania, with a 29% share of total imports. Moreover, ball imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), twofold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France stood at +13.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-2.7% per year) and China (-2.8% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of balls to Romania, comprising 31% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from France totaled +24.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+32.1% per year) and China (-0.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average ball import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 34% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 48% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
