The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Greece (X tons) was the main destination for cheese exports from Romania, accounting for a 34% share of total exports. In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest cheese supplier to Romania, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, cheese imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), twofold. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany stood at +15.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+15.6% per year) and Italy (+26.8% per year).

In 2021, the average cheese import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
