Bulgaria (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of chicken meat exports from Romania, together accounting for 59% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, the Netherlands, Greece, Ghana, Congo and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ghana (with a CAGR of +193.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hungary ($X), the UK ($X) and France ($X) were the largest markets for chicken meat exported from Romania worldwide, together accounting for 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Greece, Slovakia, Congo and Ghana, which together accounted for a further 33%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, approx. X tons of chicken meat were imported into Romania; which is down by -10.7% against 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chicken meat imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 28%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of chicken meat imports to Romania, together comprising 62% of total imports. Germany, the UK, Spain, Bulgaria and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +23.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
