The Romanian electric oven and cooker market surged to $X in 2022, with an increase of 83% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. Electric oven and cooker consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters decreased by -17.8% to X units in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then declined notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units), Poland (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main destinations of electric oven and cooker exports from Romania, together comprising 32% of total exports. Sweden, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 53%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +598.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Bulgaria ($X) and Sweden ($X) constituted the largest markets for electric oven and cooker exported from Romania worldwide, together comprising 31% of total exports. France, Poland, the UK, Hungary, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.

Belgium, with a CAGR of +505.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average electric oven and cooker export price amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -3.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Romania

In 2022, after eight years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters, when their volume decreased by -12.5% to X units. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 36%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Turkey (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of electric oven and cooker imports to Romania, with a combined 63% share of total imports. Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +78.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), Italy ($X) and Poland ($X) were the largest electric oven and cooker suppliers to Romania, together comprising 57% of total imports. Germany, China, Slovakia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
