In 2022, after eight years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices, when their volume decreased by -5% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, mixed juices imports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, Hungary (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of mixed juices to Romania, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, mixed juices imports from Hungary exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Hungary stood at +19.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+27.6% per year) and Poland (-3.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest mixed juices suppliers to Romania were Hungary ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 71% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Poland, Greece, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +34.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average mixed juices import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
