From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for grape exports from Romania, with a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, grape exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Spain (X tons), fourfold. Moldova (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland totaled +55.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+79.4% per year) and Moldova (+9.6% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for grapes exports from Romania, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland stood at +62.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+84.8% per year) and Moldova (+5.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average grape export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -18.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 66%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Romania
Grape imports into Romania expanded notably to X tons in 2022, surging by 10% compared with 2021. In general, imports recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, grape imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Moldova (X tons) constituted the largest grape supplier to Romania, with a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, grape imports from Moldova exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Greece (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Moldova stood at +16.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+11.1% per year) and Italy (-5.7% per year).
In value terms, the largest grape suppliers to Romania were Moldova ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Germany, with a CAGR of +57.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average grape import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -10.7% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 23%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
