The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Poland (X cubic meters), Turkey (X cubic meters) and Germany (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of hardboard imports to Romania, together accounting for 77% of total imports. Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, China, Austria and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.
