In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in the Romanian non-household fan market, when its value decreased by -55.3% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded prominent growth. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Non-Household Fan Production in Romania

In value terms, non-household fan production fell markedly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, showed a significant contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of non-household ventilation fans decreased by -60% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-household fan exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Germany (X units), Poland (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main destinations of non-household fan exports from Romania, with a combined 62% share of total exports. Italy, France, Turkey, Sweden, Slovenia, Morocco and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sweden (with a CAGR of +168.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-household ventilation fans exports from Romania, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany totaled +16.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+25.8% per year) and Poland (+16.1% per year).

In 2022, the average non-household fan export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 13% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-household fan export price increased by +57.5% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 25%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Romania

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of non-household ventilation fans decreased by -57.2% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 57%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, non-household fan imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 102% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest non-household fan supplier to Romania, accounting for a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, non-household fan imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X units), with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +11.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+33.3% per year) and Germany (+19.8% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-household ventilation fans to Romania, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +19.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+11.5% per year) and China (+5.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average non-household fan import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -11.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 37%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
