The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic household ware exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic household ware exports from Romania, with a combined 48% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, France, Moldova, Poland, Croatia, the Netherlands and Spain, which together accounted for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +138.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the largest markets for plastic household ware exported from Romania worldwide, with a combined 49% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, Greece, France, Serbia, Moldova, Poland, the Netherlands, Croatia and Spain, which together accounted for a further 36%.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -12.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic household ware imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +109.1% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey (X tons), China (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic household ware imports to Romania, together comprising 42% of total imports. Serbia, Poland, Italy, Germany and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.
