Reclaimed rubber exports from Romania surged to X tons in 2021, rising by 93% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 203% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 135%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The UK (X tons), Russia (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of reclaimed rubber exports from Romania, together comprising 73% of total exports.

Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

India (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main suppliers of reclaimed rubber imports to Romania, together accounting for 79% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, France and Greece, which together accounted for a further 17%.
