Bulgaria (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main destinations of rice bran exports from Romania, with a combined 94% share of total exports. Moldova lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 6.1%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Moldova (with a CAGR of +996.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Bulgaria ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for rice bran exports from Romania, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovenia, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Bulgaria amounted to -12.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-37.5% per year) and Slovenia (0.0% per year).

The average rice bran export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -38.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 340%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, the amount of rice bran imported into Romania fell rapidly to X tons, reducing by -88.5% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 451%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, rice bran imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 200% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Bulgaria (X tons) constituted the largest rice bran supplier to Romania, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, rice bran imports from Bulgaria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Serbia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hungary (X tons), with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Bulgaria amounted to -3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Serbia (-14.3% per year) and Hungary (-9.2% per year).
In value terms, Bulgaria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of rice bran to Romania, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Serbia, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Bulgaria stood at -5.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+62.8% per year) and Serbia (-0.8% per year).

In 2021, the average rice bran import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 32% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
