The Romanian sheet piling market contracted rapidly to $X in 2021, falling by -17.1% against the previous year. In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of sheet piling, shapes and sections (of iron or steel), when their volume increased by 40% to X tons. In general, exports showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 57%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sheet piling exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed buoyant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, purchases abroad of sheet piling, shapes and sections (of iron or steel) was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports enjoyed a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 236% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sheet piling imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 159% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of sheet piling imports to Romania, with a combined 63% share of total imports.
