Ukraine (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) were the main destinations of strawberry exports from Romania, together comprising 89% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the amount of strawberries imported into Romania expanded notably to X tons, rising by 14% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, strawberry imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 72%. In 2022, Greece (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of strawberry to Romania, accounting for a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, strawberry imports from Greece exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), threefold. In value terms, Greece ($X) constituted the largest supplier of strawberries to Romania, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Greece amounted to +37.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+13.3% per year) and Germany (+23.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average strawberry import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, strawberry import price increased by +26.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 36%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
