Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 39%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sulphuric acid imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Bulgaria (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sulphuric acid to Romania, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, sulphuric acid imports from Bulgaria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X tons), threefold.
