Italy (X units) was the main destination for thermostat exports from Romania, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, thermostat exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Denmark (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Russia (X units), with a 5.5% share.

In value terms, the largest markets for thermostat exported from Romania were Denmark ($X), Italy ($X) and Serbia ($X), with a combined 59% share of total exports.
Denmark, with a CAGR of +239.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average thermostat export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 123%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, overseas purchases of thermostats increased by 25% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, thermostat imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +89.7% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of thermostat imports to Romania, with a combined 79% share of total imports. Ireland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +46.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest thermostat suppliers to Romania were China ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 57% share of total imports. France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ireland and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
Slovakia, with a CAGR of +49.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average thermostat import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, thermostat import price increased by +48.6% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for Ireland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
