Bulgaria (X units) was the main destination for sportswear exports from Romania, with a 39% share of total exports. Moreover, sportswear exports to Bulgaria exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X units), twofold. Hungary (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Bulgaria stood at +42.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-17.3% per year) and Hungary (+0.1% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X), Bulgaria ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest markets for sportswear exported from Romania worldwide, together accounting for 47% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Russia and the UK, which together accounted for a further 32%.
The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +43.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average sportswear export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -23.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
