The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 163% against the previous year. Bulgaria (X litres), Hungary (X litres) and North Macedonia (X litres) were the main destinations of exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Romania, with a combined 44% share of total exports. Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Germany, Spain, the UK, Ukraine and Slovenia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into Romania
In 2022, approx. X litres of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages were imported into Romania; rising by 9.6% on 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 64%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

The Netherlands (X litres), Bulgaria (X litres) and Germany (X litres) were the main suppliers of imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Romania, with a combined 63% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +71.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per litre), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
