From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

France (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of welded and cold-formed steel sections exports from Romania, together accounting for 56% of total exports. Finland, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +221.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 183% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, welded and cold-formed steel sections imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 147% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of welded and cold-formed steel sections to Romania, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, welded and cold-formed steel sections imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. Bulgaria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland amounted to +32.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-21.6% per year) and Bulgaria (+11.1% per year).
