In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives), when their volume decreased by -15.3% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 52%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aniline imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of aniline to Russia, accounting for a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, aniline imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belgium totaled +1.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+1.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (-13.8% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) to Russia, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Belgium stood at -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+0.2% per year) and the Czech Republic (-15.3% per year).
