Italy (X tons) was the main destination for antisera exports from Russia, with a 40% share of total exports. Moreover, antisera exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), twofold. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Italy amounted to +31.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+20.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (+1.2% per year).

Latvia, with a CAGR of +59.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average antisera export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -14.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of antisera and other blood fractions increased by 13% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +103.4% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 23%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, antisera imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 77%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of antisera imports to Russia, together comprising 51% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, the United States, the UK, Belarus, France, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Japan, which together accounted for a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +156.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest antisera suppliers to Russia were the United States ($X), Switzerland ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 61% of total imports. Italy, Austria, South Korea, Japan, France, China, the UK, Spain and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Belarus, with a CAGR of +92.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average antisera import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 31% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, antisera import price decreased by -7.9% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
