In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Russian articles of zinc market, when its value increased by 12% to $X. In general, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, articles of zinc exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 119%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Belarus (X tons) was the main destination for articles of zinc exports from Russia, with a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, articles of zinc exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kazakhstan (X tons), threefold. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Belarus amounted to +4.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+0.2% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+8.4% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for articles of zinc exports from Russia, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Armenia, with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Belarus totaled +7.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+4.9% per year) and Armenia (+114.0% per year).

In 2021, the average articles of zinc export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, articles of zinc export price increased by +110.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 47%. Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2021, approx. X tons of articles of zinc were imported into Russia; rising by 163% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports enjoyed prominent growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, articles of zinc imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest articles of zinc supplier to Russia, with a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, articles of zinc imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (X tons), with a 10% share.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
