In value terms, cabbage exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 380% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Ukraine (X tons) was the main destination for cabbage exports from Russia, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, cabbage exports to Ukraine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ukraine amounted to +108.2%.
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for cabbage and other brassicas exports from Russia, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 32% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average cabbage export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -17.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (-6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Russian Federation
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of cabbage and other brassicas increased by 14% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cabbage imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 45%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Armenia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main suppliers of cabbage imports to Russia, with a combined 61% share of total imports. Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +60.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Armenia ($X) and Belarus ($X) constituted the largest cabbage suppliers to Russia, together comprising 57% of total imports. Turkey, Uzbekistan, Egypt, North Macedonia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +59.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average cabbage import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -5.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 15%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($X per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
