Belarus, Turkey, Slovenia, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +38.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), India ($X) and Norway ($X) constituted the largest markets for carbides exported from Russia worldwide, together accounting for 52% of total exports. Belarus, Turkey, Slovenia, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
Slovenia, with a CAGR of +34.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average carbides export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -2.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 12%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2022, the amount of carbides imported into Russia reduced modestly to X tons, which is down by -2.7% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, carbides imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +9.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 36%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) constituted the largest carbides supplier to Russia, accounting for a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, carbides imports from Kazakhstan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Kazakhstan stood at +27.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (-11.5% per year) and China (+4.3% per year).
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of carbides to Russia, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 22% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Kazakhstan totaled +24.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+5.9% per year) and Ukraine (-14.4% per year).
