For the third year in a row, the Russian helicopter market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 46% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption saw a measured expansion. From 2012 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of value to Serbia stood at +141.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+37.3% per year) and Thailand (+32.2% per year).

The average helicopter export price stood at $X per unit in 2019, dropping by -46.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 165% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2019, the United Arab Emirates (X units) constituted the largest helicopter supplier to Russia, with a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, helicopter imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X units), threefold. Uzbekistan (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United Arab Emirates amounted to +47.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+38.9% per year) and Uzbekistan (0.0% per year).

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest supplier of civil helicopters to Russia, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of value from the Czech Republic stood at +198.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+100.9% per year) and Uzbekistan (0.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average helicopter import price stood at $X per unit in 2019, growing by 250% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed a buoyant increase. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2019, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while the price for Finland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
