In 2021, the amount of concentrated orange juice exported from Russia rose sharply to X tons, surging by 8.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 107% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice exports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 86%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan (X tons) was the main destination for concentrated orange juice exports from Russia, with a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, concentrated orange juice exports to Uzbekistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Kazakhstan (X tons), with a 3.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Uzbekistan amounted to +59.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+12.5% per year) and Kazakhstan (+6.4% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for concentrated orange juice exported from Russia were Uzbekistan ($X), Belarus ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), together accounting for 90% of total exports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +40.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average concentrated orange juice export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 14%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of concentrated orange juice increased by 20% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after six years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate perceptible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 575% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 725% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest concentrated orange juice supplier to Russia, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, concentrated orange juice imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with a 5.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Brazil stood at +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-5.4% per year) and Italy (+30.6% per year).

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constituted the largest supplier of concentrated orange juice to Russia, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 6.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 5.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Brazil amounted to +6.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-6.3% per year) and Italy (+27.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average concentrated orange juice import price amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
