Exports from the Russian Federation
In 2022, the amount of concrete reinforcing bars exported from Russia expanded sharply to X tons, with an increase of 8.5% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -7.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar exports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by +0.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 46%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Mongolia (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main destinations of concrete reinforcing bar exports from Russia, with a combined 48% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Finland and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +61.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for concrete reinforcing bar exported from Russia were Kazakhstan ($X), Mongolia ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 46% of total exports. Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Finland and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.
Among the main countries of destination, Romania, with a CAGR of +55.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average concrete reinforcing bar export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -18.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 53% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Slovakia ($X per ton) and Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($X per ton) and Romania ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2022, overseas purchases of concrete reinforcing bars were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 118% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 146% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Ukraine (X tons) was the main supplier of concrete reinforcing bar to Russia, accounting for a 97% share of total imports. It was followed by Lithuania (X tons), with a 2.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Ukraine stood at -4.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lithuania (+1.8% per year) and Belarus (-55.4% per year).
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) constituted the largest supplier of concrete reinforcing bars to Russia, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lithuania ($X), with a 3.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Ukraine stood at -6.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lithuania (+2.0% per year) and Belarus (-55.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average concrete reinforcing bar import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -20.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 69%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell markedly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
