The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Exports by Country
Poland (X tons) was the main destination for cucumber and gherkin exports from Russia, with a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, cucumber and gherkin exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kazakhstan (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Moldova (X tons), with a 0.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland totaled +812.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+61.5% per year) and Moldova (+291.0% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for cucumbers and gherkins exports from Russia, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 1.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 1.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Poland totaled +722.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+24.2% per year) and Moldova (+215.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average cucumber and gherkin export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -15.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 37% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cucumber and gherkin imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 17%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the main suppliers of cucumber and gherkin imports to Russia, together accounting for 75% of total imports. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Georgia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Georgia (with a CAGR of +149.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Turkey ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) were the largest cucumber and gherkin suppliers to Russia, with a combined 69% share of total imports. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Georgia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Georgia, with a CAGR of +169.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average cucumber and gherkin import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -2.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Georgia (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
