In 2021, the Russian diethanolamine market was finally on the rise to reach $X after eight years of decline. In general, consumption, however, showed a abrupt slump. Diethanolamine consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of diethanolamine and its salts, when their volume decreased by -24.9% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 167%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The average diethanolamine export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 27% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Diethanolamine imports into Russia declined remarkably to X tons in 2021, waning by -66.6% against 2020. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 504%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, diethanolamine imports contracted notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a tangible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 331%. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
