Egg Product Market Size in the Russian Federation
The Russian egg product market expanded sharply to $X in 2021, growing by 5.5% against the previous year. In 2021, exports of egg products from Russia surged to X tons, jumping by 16% compared with 2020. In general, exports posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, egg product exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Belarus (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) were the main destinations of egg product exports from Russia, with a combined 91% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.7%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +88.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for egg products exports from Russia, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ukraine ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Belarus amounted to +8.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ukraine (+34.9% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+72.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average egg product export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 28% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+27.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Egg Product Imports
Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, overseas purchases of egg products decreased by -13.2% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 162% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, egg product imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 157%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Belarus (X tons), India (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) were the main suppliers of egg product imports to Russia, together accounting for 91% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +126.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest egg product suppliers to Russia were India ($X), Belarus ($X) and Argentina ($X), with a combined 89% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, India, with a CAGR of +127.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average egg product import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
