Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, acrylic acid esters exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 469% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Uzbekistan (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of acrylic acid esters exports from Russia, with a combined 48% share of total exports. Switzerland, the United States, Egypt, Slovenia, Mexico, Poland and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Switzerland (with a CAGR of +236.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X) were the largest markets for acrylic acid esters exported from Russia worldwide, with a combined 46% share of total exports. In 2022, the average acrylic acid esters export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2022, approx. X tons of esters of acrylic acid were imported into Russia; with a decrease of -21% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, acrylic acid esters imports plummeted to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 189%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of acrylic acid esters to Russia, accounting for a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, acrylic acid esters imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +32.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-14.6% per year) and the Czech Republic (-8.7% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of esters of acrylic acid to Russia, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +26.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-18.8% per year) and Belgium (+13.0% per year).

The average acrylic acid esters import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -14.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 75%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
