Over the period under review, exports showed a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 341% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Tajikistan (X tons) was the main destination for organ extracts exports from Russia, accounting for a 49% share of total exports. The average organ extracts export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -23.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 139% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+26.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2021, organ extracts imports into Russia surged to X tons, picking up by 45% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 345% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, organ extracts imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 309%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
