For the third year in a row, the Russian plastic extruder market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 43% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a drastic downturn. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of extruders for working rubber or plastics decreased by -1.7% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 115%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic extruder exports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 80%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Lithuania (X units) was the main destination for plastic extruder exports from Russia, with a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic extruder exports to Lithuania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Uzbekistan (X units), with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Lithuania stood at +62.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+58.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (-13.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for plastic extruder exported from Russia were Belarus ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Lithuania ($X), with a combined 52% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Israel, Latvia and Norway, which together accounted for a further 24%.

Among the main countries of destination, the United States, with a CAGR of +177.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average plastic extruder export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -7.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 28%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas purchases of extruders for working rubber or plastics increased by 27% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 1,736%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic extruder imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 1,277% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
