In 2021, the Russian acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives market increased by 2.1% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives production expanded slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the production volume increased by 30% against the previous year. Acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives production peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports from the Russian Federation
In 2021, overseas shipments of fluorinated, brominated or iodinated derivatives of acyclic hydrocarbons decreased by -36.5% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 67%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives exports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 76%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Italy (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main destinations of acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives exports from Russia, with a combined 64% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +195.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives exported from Russia worldwide, together accounting for 89% of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, South Korea, with a CAGR of +199.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 98%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+29.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, purchases abroad of fluorinated, brominated or iodinated derivatives of acyclic hydrocarbons decreased by -6% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -17.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) was the main supplier of acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives to Russia, with a 95% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany (X tons), with a 2.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-8.2% per year) and France (-49.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fluorinated, brominated or iodinated derivatives of acyclic hydrocarbons to Russia, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 4.6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +1.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-3.3% per year) and France (-32.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 28% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight decline. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+34.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
