Exports by Country
Belarus (X tons) was the main destination for inulin exports from Russia, accounting for a 96% share of total exports. It was followed by Armenia (X tons), with a 1.6% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan (X kg), with a 1.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Belarus stood at +112.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (+30.5% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-5.6% per year).
In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for inulin exports from Russia, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 2.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Belarus amounted to +63.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+7.5% per year) and Uzbekistan (-2.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average inulin export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -31.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 52%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then plummeted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+20.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of inulin, when their volume decreased by -1.9% to X tons. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +76.8% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, inulin imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of inulin to Russia, accounting for a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, inulin imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), fivefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belgium amounted to +3.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+92.9% per year) and the Netherlands (-2.4% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of inulin to Russia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 28% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Belgium stood at +1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+101.0% per year) and the Netherlands (-2.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average inulin import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
