From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +159.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Belarus ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for bovine and equine leather exported from Russia worldwide, together accounting for 67% of total exports. In general, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of leather of bovine and equine animals, when their volume decreased by -32.9% to X tons. In general, imports recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
