In 2022, Azerbaijan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of maize to Russia, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, maize imports from Azerbaijan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), fivefold. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Azerbaijan amounted to +20.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+22.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (-13.1% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and North Macedonia ($X) were the largest maize suppliers to Russia, with a combined 69% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, North Macedonia, with a CAGR of +142.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
