In general, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 2,503% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines exports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,137%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Belarus (X tons) was the main destination for aromatic monoamines exports from Russia, accounting for a 96% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), with a 2.3% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 0.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Belarus totaled +121.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (0.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (-25.8% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof exports from Russia, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 6.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Belarus amounted to +103.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (0.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (-21.7% per year).

In 2021, the average aromatic monoamines export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -26.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, approx. X tons of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof were imported into Russia; dropping by -9.2% on the year before. In general, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -9.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines imports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +86.4% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

China (X tons), Germany (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of aromatic monoamines imports to Russia, together comprising 67% of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, South Korea, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +80.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), India ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest aromatic monoamines suppliers to Russia, with a combined 66% share of total imports. Slovakia, South Korea, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, aromatic monoamines import price increased by +67.1% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
